Hip Bursitis

Hip bursitis is a condition where the bursa, a fluid-filled sac that cushions the hip joint, becomes inflamed and irritated, leading to pain on the outer side of the hip. This condition is often caused by repetitive movement, prolonged pressure on the hip, or biomechanical imbalances that put excess strain on the joint. Factors such as poor foot mechanics, leg length discrepancy, flat feet, high arches, or improper gait patterns can contribute to increased stress on the hip, leading to inflammation and discomfort.

Symptoms of hip bursitis include pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness around the hip, which may worsen with prolonged standing, walking, running, or lying on the affected side. If left untreated, hip bursitis can become a chronic issue, limiting mobility and daily activities.

At The Foot Room, we assess hip bursitis through our biomechanical pathway, using advanced gait analysis to identify any foot, ankle, or leg imbalances that may be increasing strain on the hip. Treatment may include custom orthotics, strength and flexibility exercises, gait retraining, footwear recommendations, and offloading techniques to reduce pressure on the hip joint and promote long-term recovery. Our goal is to address the root cause of your pain and help you move comfortably and efficiently.
