Sport related injuries

Children and adolescents are naturally active, and sports play a crucial role in their physical development, coordination, and social skills. However, their growing bodies are more vulnerable to overuse injuries, muscle imbalances, and biomechanical stress, particularly during growth spurts when bones, muscles, and tendons develop at different rates. Common sport-related injuries in children include heel pain (Sever’s disease), knee pain (Osgood-schlatter disease), shin splints, ankle sprains, and stress fractures.

These injuries can occur due to poor foot biomechanics, inadequate footwear, muscle weakness, or sudden increases in training intensity. If left untreated, they can lead to long-term pain, reduced performance, and difficulties in staying active.

At The Foot Room, we assess and treat sports-related injuries through our children’s biomechanical pathway, using advanced gait analysis to identify movement patterns and any underlying biomechanical issues. Treatment may include custom orthotics for support, strengthening and stretching exercises, strapping, footwear advice, and rehabilitation strategies to aid recovery and prevent future injuries. Our goal is to help children stay active, pain-free, and performing at their best.
